I have been taking loved ones here since the mid 70s. I think it just excellent today, Dec. 23, It has become so responsive to issues and questions. It has also become streamlined in its service. There is a great deal of collaboration among departments. The team of hospitalists is next level. The ER for actual emergencies is the best in the area, by far. I think the consultation with team members and outside specialists is exemplary! Parking is ample. The cafeteria is pretty good. Food delivery, room cleaners are hard working and responsive. A few caveats, if you need non emergency heart procedures it is my understanding that you will be shipped up to the mother ship in New Haven. My impression was that the oncology wing seems understaffed and basic. In sum, GH a really good community hospital.

Greenwich Hospital is really beautiful, as nice as a hotel.
What makes it truly stand out is the service it provides. We recently delivered our baby there. All the doctors and nurses in the delivery unit and maternity unit were awesome! They were really attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I was truly in good hands throughout the entire delivery and recovery process. They eased lots of our nervousness and concerns by listening to us and answering our questions.
The maternity patient rooms are all single. My husband, baby and I had the whole room with private bathroom all to ourselves, making it a lot more convenient.

My fiancé recently gave birth here and I must say that the care she and my baby received was absolutely incredible. Words cannot fully describe the immense gratitude we have for everyone who went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home. The doctors, nurses, nurses aids, and lactation consultants were all exceptional. You truly superseded our expectations. Thank you for the work you do, it is truly commendable.

I would also like to mention that the kitchen staff and housekeeping were friendly and always made sure that the food was delicious and the hospital was spotless. If we ever decide to have another baby we would come here in a heartbeat. We could not have asked for a more pleasant experience.

I went in several days ago with a close friend, who is an organ transplant patient of Mayo Clinic with obvious underlying health problems. He went in by EMS, the EMS team told him he was having a heart attack and was also in atrial fibrillation. They wheeled him into the ED, the first thing the heart doctor started doing was insulting him and saying I know you, I remember you it’s not that serious. My friend had to self-medicate off of his extra heart meds because they were giving him no medication to bring his heart rate down that was hitting 180+. He regulated his heart rate down to the 100’s and under. He received no help from any of the nurses besides wise comments with no due diligence as a medical team should have done! They ended up discharging him, mind you a transplant patient with many underlying health conditions a day later still in atrial fibrillation and they did not convert him to sinus rhythm. The medical team was argumentative with him and clearly did not help him in anyway whatsoever. If I could give a rating of -10 I would! They left my friend’s life in jeopardy of an 80% chance of risk of a stroke/heart attack, being a transplant patient at that and discharged him without care and in atrial fibrillation. Also, there are many resident doctors that enter your room giving medical instructions, but where are the actual doctors Please be cautious with these doctors and nurses for your elders and family members. Thankfully he is very well versed medically and was able to convert himself back to sinus rhythm 24 hours later after being discharged.

5 stars goes directly to Colleen cregan! She was working in pediatrics Monday and Tuesday. She is such a sweet, helpful RN. She is truly the definition of a great nurse. She has over exceeded my expectations on Monday and Tuesday. Unfortunately my daughter wasn’t feeling well and Colleen Cregan did a great job at making her feel comfortable and she is a true example of what a GREAT nurse looks like. Thank you Colleen Cregan for all of your help you are truly a blessing.

I am here now, awake at 1 am due to lack of pain meds after hip replacement surgery today. Highest regard for my surgeon and day shift nurses. 2 stars because of uncaring night nurses. Ice pack warm( not changed all day) had to disagree with nurse to get fresh ice, act like doing me a big favor when getting occasionally pain meds.so different from prior stays when nurses were kind, caring and proactive. Feels are deliberately slow, I mean really slow, to respond to call..6 more hours till day shift. Am miserable. Don't come alone like I did, need an advocate with you, unfortunately.

I have experienced many scary incidents at Greenwich Hospital. In 2020, my father complained of back pain and I brought him to the ER. His ankles were hugely swollen. The doctor told me he didn’t have blood clots (my initial concern) but he did. He had 4 in his lungs and 2 in his legs. A few weeks later he stopped breathing and almost died.
My father has Parkinson’s disease so after this his disease progressed.
Since then, he has been admitted several times for issues related to Parkinson’s. He has been forgotten in the room for hours (he is a fall risk, and if I wasn’t there to take him to the bathroom he would have fallen without anyone knowing), they also forgot to bring him his medications that very same night. They also didn’t bring him dinner. I went to the cafeteria and bought him food.
Anytime you ask the nurses for help, they are angry. They never respond to the buzzer when you need to go to bathroom. They even fight with patients in the hallway like it’s a bar! They change the rules in regards to how many visitors a patient is allowed to have every time you are there. Sometimes I’m allowed in with my mom and brother, and a few hours later I am not! Lol.
Doctors are spread too thin and don’t know who the patient is that they are treating.
My father fell recently and was given fentanyl in the ambulance and the ER doctor didn’t read the report or know this was a protocol. Instead when he was being discharged she asked him if he was a drug addict- lol! What if she had given him more pain meds when he first came in? He could have overdosed!
You can never leave your loved one alone in this hospital.

This Hospital is excellent, the nurses, doctors and staff are so courteous, respectful, knowledgeable and nice. Super service, top of the line. Recently my wife and I had our first child here. And the experience was outstanding. Truly recommend it. I do want to thank all the staff for the great service.
